Join us in pursuing your passion for the Russian language and enhancing your skills by studying at the Institute of Russian Philology, Faculty of Applied Linguistics, University of Warsaw.

Our curriculum combines traditional philology with modern teaching methods. It is designed for both students who already speak Russian and those who are just beginning to learn the language. The program emphasizes the importance of the Russian language in today’s global context, particularly considering migration trends in Europe. We train specialists who are fluent in Russian, have a deep understanding of Russian culture, and can interact across various fields, including science, business, and cultural relations. Graduates acquire extensive knowledge of linguistics and Russian literature, and develop strong communication skills, enabling them to successfully navigate the challenges of a rapidly changing society.

Graduate Profile: Bachelor’s Degree in Russian Philology
Graduates of the bachelor’s program in Russian Philology possess advanced language skills in both spoken and written forms, meeting the C1 level requirements set by the Council of Europe. They have a strong understanding of the current state and historical evolution of the Russian language and Russian literature from both synchronic and diachronic perspectives, and they are familiar with Russian history and culture. This program prepares them for further studies in a master’s program or for entering the job market in cultural institutions, media, and commercial enterprises that require knowledge of the Russian language.

Graduate Profile: Master’s Degree in Russian Philology
Graduates of the master’s program in Russian Philology achieve a C2 level of proficiency in the Russian language and gain in-depth knowledge of contemporary trends in Russian language and literature, as well as current sociopolitical and economic realities. The curriculum emphasizes the development of advanced written and oral communication skills in economics and finance, along with specialized competencies in Polish-Russian and Russian-Polish translation of both literary and practical texts. This degree enables graduates to pursue further studies in doctoral programs or seek career opportunities in cultural institutions, media, and commercial organizations.
